Our Classes - Lower Primary

Meet the Teacher - Mrs Kathryn James

My name is Kathryn James and I have been the Stage 1 (Lower Primary) teacher here at CPCS for many years.  Leading this department can be challenging at times, but by the grace of God, it is also a very rewarding experience as I endeavour to guide these younger students through their early years of schooling. It is a blessing to see them make progress during the two years that I have them under my care and instruction.

My family and I had made Condell Park Bible Church our spiritual home, and in 1994, the Lord opened the door for me to begin teaching at CPCS.  Whilst I didn't have formal educational qualifications at that time, I was aware of the teaching gifts God had given me.  After some time, I went back to study and gained my Bachelor of Education in 2011.

I believe that we are able to learn from an early age that it is our individual responsibility to honour the Lord in every decision of our lives.  It is a privilege to be able to have input into the spiritual development of the children within the school and to be able to teach them the simple yet foundational lessonsof pleasing God in everything we do and say.

I trust God that the students of CPCS will remember the truths that they are taught, and it will be their desire to trust in Him for salvation and go on to honour Him through their adolescent and adult years.

About Lower Primary

The Lower Primary department is a composite class of Years 1 and 2.  It is a class that reviews and build upon the literacy and numeracy skills that are taught in Kindergarten.

Our students are taught to read and spell using a phonics based program.  We use a combination of materials from Bob Jones University Press, Pensacola Christian College as well as home grown materials developed in Australia.  The literacy program also includes other strands such as grammar, reading comprehension and writing.

Along with Mathematics, other subjects include History and Geography, Science, Music, Visual Art, Sport and Bible Devotions, for which we may use specialist staff at times.

Students enjoy curriculum related excursions to supplement and engage students learning.
